About the role

The Sport Engagement Coordinator (Intervarsity & EDI) is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all intervarsity events and developing inclusion and diversity through the Arc Sport programming at UNSW.

Key to the role will being the department lead for all UniSport events including the logistics and coordination of sending student teams away to compete as well as leading various inclusion and diversity programming and ensuring that our existing offerings are up to date with inclusive and diversity practices.

Responsibilities

  • The coordination of UNSW Teams to compete in intervarsity competitions. In particular UniSport Nationals Div 1 & 2, UniSport Championships, UniSport Indigenous Nationals and various other local intervarsity competitions held throughout the year
  • The creation, development & delivery of intervarsity competitions against other local universities
  • Enhancement of current Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) programs (e.g., She Can, Global Sport), and the ongoing review of further EDI programs and policies within the sport department
  • Development of Student Sport Officers and Team Managers
  • Maintain relationships with various stakeholders, within UNSW, UniSport Australia, other Universities and various vendor providers for Intervarsity events
  • Any further tasks, prescribed by the Sport Department Management in the pursuit of adding to the student experience at UNSW through sport.

Skills & experience

More than anything else we are looking for someone with the essential skills and intrinsic passion for sport and activity. We want someone who will love this job and be willing to put in the time and effort to learn and further develop within the role. You will be organised and a leader to engage our wider student audiences whilst understanding and breaking down the barriers that may exist in sport.

Selection Criteria:

  • Proven ability working with logistics and coordination of large groups and events
  • Strong planning & organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; in particular to a tertiary student audience
  • Strong skills in writing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with a range of stakeholders, across all levels of the university & different sectors of the UNSW community
  • Analyse processes and question assumptions appropriately to deliver organisational improvement and efficiency
  • Being innovative, thinking creatively, and facilitating continuous improvement
  • A sound knowledge of budgeting and relevant accounting and financial procedures
  • Self-confidence, self-motivation and drive;
  • A passion and interest in a range of sport and activities;
  • Willingness to be accountable, responsible, reliable and work unsupervised;

Desirable Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Sport Management or a related field
  • Experience and knowledge of the University sports sector
