We are seeking to employ a suitable candidate for the role of Management Accountant - Aged Care, specific to these services.

Position Title: Accountant – Aged Care

Reports To: Finance Manager / Director of Nursing

Position Type: Full-Time

Position Description:

The management accountant will be responsible for providing accurate financial analysis, reporting, and strategic insights to support the financial management of aged care services. This role involves preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, as well as analysing operational costs and revenue streams to optimise financial performance. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager, Director of Nursing and the Support at Home Coordinator to support decision-making processes, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and contribute to the financial sustainability of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyse monthly management reports, including financial statements, variance analysis, and KPI reporting.

Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial models aligned with organisational goals.

Support operational teams with financial insights to improve efficiency and cost management.

Support the entity in its compliance with aged care funding models, government regulations, and accounting standards.

Assist in the preparation of financial submissions and audits.

Identify areas for financial improvement and implement strategies to enhance profitability.

Maintain strong internal controls and ensure accuracy of financial data.

Support financial systems and process improvements.

Key Selection Criteria:

Essential:

Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Proven experience (5+ years) in management accounting, preferably within aged care, health, or social services.

In-depth knowledge of aged care funding models, government regulations, and compliance requirements.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

Proficiency in financial software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, SAP, or similar) and MS Office Suite.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.

Desirable:

CPA/CA qualification or equivalent.

Experience with strategic financial planning and decision-making.

Knowledge of contemporary aged care reforms and policy changes.

Experience with process improvement initiatives.
