Senior Data Engineer – Azure

$100–$125 + super per hour | 8-hour day | Hybrid (Sydney)

An exciting opportunity is available for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join a leading public sector organisation and play a key role in their data transformation program.

You’ll work within a collaborative and innovative team, building scalable solutions on the Azure cloud platform. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to impactful projects with real outcomes for the community.

What you’ll be doing

• Design, build and optimise ETL pipelines and data models using Azure Data Factory & Databricks
• Manage data lifecycle through Azure Data Lake (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and Delta Lake
• Implement robust data governance frameworks using Azure Purview and Unity Catalog
• Enable advanced analytics and deliver high-quality data for reporting and insights
• Apply DevOps/CI/CD practices to improve efficiency and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions align with business needs

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years’ experience in data engineering and governance with Azure
• Strong skills in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake, Purview
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Proven experience in data modelling, ETL pipelines, and data warehousing
• Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and Git integration
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Desirable:

Power BI reporting, agile delivery experience, and public sector exposure.
