The Learning and Curriculum Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of learning resources and educational tools that support the delivery of RACMA’s Fellowship Training Program. This includes oversight of the curriculum and learning outcomes, ensuring they remain current, relevant, and aligned with the program’s educational intent.

The role ensures that all training program learning resources—including Candidate guides, Training Supervisor resources, online modules, and workshop content—are aligned with curriculum learning outcomes, underpinned by adult learning principles, and responsive to the evolving needs of Candidates, Training Supervisors and Preceptors.

Working closely with the Executive Director, Education, Training and Development, the Manager, Training Program Strategy and Development, Faculty, and key College committees, the Learning and Curriculum Lead plays a critical role in maintaining the quality, consistency and educational integrity of the Fellowship Training Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality learning resources and educational content for the Fellowship Training Program, ensuring alignment with curriculum learning outcomes and adult learning principles.
  • Oversee the review and continuous improvement of the Fellowship Training Program curriculum, including the maintenance and revision of learning outcomes in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and subject matter experts to lead the strategic development and delivery of online learning modules and digital resources, ensuring effective and purposeful use of RACMA’s Learning Management System (Canvas).
  • Apply instructional design principles to ensure learning resources are purposeful, accessible, and aligned with the needs of adult learners in a specialist medical education context.
  • Maintain the structure, quality, and usability of the online learning environment, including coordination of content updates and user experience enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Faculty, Training Supervisors, Preceptors, and College committees to ensure learning resources are responsive to Candidate needs and support progression through the Fellowship Training Program.
  • Coordinate education-related projects within the Fellowship Training Program, ensuring delivery of high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Provide expert educational advice to College committees and working groups, and lead the development of strategic reports, recommendations, and documentation related to curriculum and learning resource design and delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learning resources and activities, using data and stakeholder feedback to inform ongoing improvements.
  • Develop and maintain clear, accessible guidance and documentation to support Candidates, Training Supervisors, and Preceptors in the effective use of learning resources.
  • Ensure alignment with relevant accreditation standards and compliance with RACMA’s educational governance requirements.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in education, instructional design, health, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and development of high-quality learning resources, with sound knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles, ideally within a healthcare or higher education context.
  • Strong understanding of postgraduate training environments, particularly in specialist medical or healthcare education.
  • Experience developing and maintaining online learning resources within a Learning Management System, preferably Canvas.
  • Proven ability to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of education initiatives, including online modules and workshop-based learning.
  • Strong project coordination skills, with a track record of successfully managing the planning and delivery of education projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach to working with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce clear, outcome-focused educational content, reports, and documentation tailored for diverse audiences.
  • A demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality, impactful education that supports Candidate learning and enhances training program outcomes.
