Our Client

Our client is a well-established Sydney CBD accounting firm specialising in tax planning, accounting and advisory services. The firm works with a sophisticated client base offering intricate business groups to work with, where they also receive a lot of referral work due to the way they operate and work with clients.

The Role

You’ll be managing workflow, reviewing work prepared by junior staff, providing training and providing technical advisory services while also delivering high-quality client accounting outcomes. The client portfolio is varied, covering SMEs, high-net-worth groups, SMSF, and complex business structures. You’ll also be involved in high-level projects such as ATO Top 500 Reviews/Audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Review of jobs completed by junior staff members, including financial statements and income tax returns
• Analysing the financial position of clients and providing tax planning and advice on taxation issues
• Preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for all entity types
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly activity statements, including the processing of clients' bookkeeping
• Preparation of monthly and annual payroll tax reconciliations, as well as annual FBT returns
• Monthly balance sheet, profit and loss and bank reconciliations, including asset register maintenance for clients
• Collaborating with team members in respect to working on large projects, e.g. ATO Top 500 Review and ATO audits
• Provision of team training and support for staff members
• Liaising and handling disputes with ATO and other agencies are dealt with daily

About You

• CA/CPA qualified with 6+ years’ experience in business advisory/tax
• Skilled in work reviewal and mentoring junior team members
• Strong technical expertise across a broad range of entities
• Excellent communicator who can build rapport with clients and colleagues
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
• Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, living in Sydney
