In this role, you will:
✔️ Greet and assist visitors, community members, and stakeholders in a culturally respectful way
✔️ Answer, screen, and direct phone calls and manage inquiries professionally
✔️ Maintain a welcoming, safe, and organised reception and waiting area
✔️ Manage mail, appointments, meeting room bookings, and basic administration tasks
✔️ Provide support to the Corporate Services team as required
About You:
✔️ Certificate III or higher in Business/Office Administration (or equivalent experience)
✔️ Strong communication, customer service, and organisational skills
✔️ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with phone and reception systems
✔️ Understanding of Aboriginal people, culture, and community needs
✔️ Ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism and cultural respect
Selection Criteria
Essential:
Qualifications
Certificate III or higher in Business Administration, Office Administration, or a related field.
Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
Valid Driver’s Licence
Skills
A proven knowledge and understanding of aboriginal people and aboriginal culture
An ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people and handle issues in a sensitive manner.
Good negotiation skills and well-developed communication skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong customer service focus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and experience using multi-line phone systems.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
Experience
2 years of experience in similar field
Satisfactory evidence of:
Pre-employment checks not limited to at least two professional referees
Proof of identity and qualifications
National police check/Working with Children’s Check/full Victorian driver’s license
Disclosure of any pre-existing illness / injury and vaccination status in line with Njernda’s current policy and procedure
As applicable – eligibility to work in Australia, professional/regulatory licenses, registration and current good standing, and clearance on aged care banning orders.
Desirable:
Work experience in an Aboriginal organisation.
