Your next career opportunity
As a Project Officer at the Peter Doherty Institute, you'll have the opportunity to support critical global health initiatives and cutting-edge pathogen research. You'll play a key role in managing the Institute's Strategic Partnership with DFAT's Centre for Health Security, and support vital projects at the Microbiological Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory and Centre for Pathogen Genomics. This role offers you the chance to engage with diverse stakeholders, coordinate complex projects, and contribute to impactful public health outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate Global Health Initiatives: Support the delivery of the DFAT Strategic Partnership, ensuring harmonisation across work areas and engaging with key stakeholders.
  • Manage Research and Public Health Projects: Coordinate strategic initiatives at the Centre for Pathogen Genomics and MDU PHL, including research and public health project management.
  • Ensure Project Success: Monitor progress, track budgets and timelines, and support risk management across multiple projects.
  • Facilitate Communication: Draft reports, organise meetings, and liaise with diverse stakeholders to support project objectives.

You may be a great fit if:
You are a highly organised professional with experience in global health or capacity-building projects, possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic research environment.

You may also:

  • Have a tertiary qualification in public health, global health, or a related field.
  • Possess strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate experience in stakeholder engagement and project coordination.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Show adaptability in responding to changing priorities.
