Finance Director – Life Sciences

Position Overview

My client has a fantastic reputation within the life sciences industry.

Classed as perhaps 'a small moving into mid-size category' they are seeking an experienced Finance Director or Head to lead the financial operations and execute significant expansion.

This will be worked in tandem and support of a Group CEO.

The company is in a great pocket of the industry and as such have seen a steady growth trajectory over the last few years.

With a very financially astute executive leadership team, they intend to follow suit in this next step of evolution.

The company supports the mission to advance clinical research and deliver high-quality patient care.

Therefore they are looking for a candidate with some appreciation of this area ideally.

With the leadership team all on shore in Australia, decisions can be made swiftly and the company is agile.

This role will manage a team of accounts payable and accounts receivable personnel expectedly. The role will have an increasing amount of strategic autonomy.

Key Duties:

Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's objectives, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.

Set out growth plans working with the senior leadership teams, assessing demand and allocating resource

Oversee the preparation and management of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans.

Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses to inform decision-making.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement

Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.

Communicate financial performance and strategic initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulatory bodies, and partners.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) is preferred.

Minimum of 10 years in financial management, with an absolute pre-requisite need to have at least 5 years in a line management and functional leadership role. This needs to be within the life sciences sector.

A crucial component of need for the client is to have worked in a startup environment at some point and influenced significant change in a short space of time of your own volition

Worked in a finance consultancy at some point

Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Proven ability to lead and develop teams, manage cross-functional projects, and drive organizational change.
