The Derwent Sailing Squadron is Tasmania’s premier sailing squadron, overlooking the River Derwent in Sandy Bay. Our clubhouse features a lounge, bar, restaurant, and function spaces, catering to members, guests, and events.

We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated Chef ready to step into a Head Chef role and lead a small, dedicated team.

What you’ll do

Design and deliver seasonal menus showcasing fresh local produce

Manage food costs, stock, and budgets

Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff

Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure quality and consistency

Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene

About you

2+ years’ experience in a leadership role within a busy kitchen (Sous Chef, Senior Chef, or equivalent)

Ready to take the next step into a Head Chef position

Hands-on leadership style with a team-first approach

Understanding of menu design, rostering, and kitchen management

Strong organisation, time management, and attention to detail

Flexible and reliable – available Tuesday to Friday, with some weekend function work

Full-time role (38 hours per week), mostly Tuesday - Friday including evenings with some weekend functions.
