HR & Safety Advisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced HR & Safety Advisor to join our team in a dual-function role supporting both human resources and workplace health and safety operations. You'll work closely with managers and employees to provide expert guidance on HR policies, employee relations, recruitment, and performance management, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and fostering a safe, respectful, and high-performing work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for HR-related enquiries
• Advise on HR policies, procedures, and employment law
• Support employee relations, investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and employee development initiatives
• Maintain accurate employee records and prepare HR reports and metrics
• Partner with managers on performance management and development plans
• Deliver HR projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits, recommending corrective actions
• Coordinate and deliver safety training and emergency preparedness programs
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions
• Manage safety documentation, including training records and incident reports
• Collaborate with departments to integrate safety into operational processes
• Support injury management, workers' compensation claims, and return-to-work programs
• Assist with administrative tasks and ad hoc activities as directed

Qualifications & Skills

• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Safety, or a related field
• Proven experience in a combined HR and WHS advisory role
• Strong knowledge of employment law and safety regulations
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
• Proficiency in HRIS and safety management systems
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
