The Role
Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Group (GWEO) is looking for an experienced APS5 Project Support Officer to join a dynamic delivery focused environment.
As an APS5 Project Support Officer working within the Guided Weapons Manufacturing Division, you will be given the unique opportunity to work within a diverse team to deliver Australian Defence Force systems that are at the leading edge of Defence Capability.
You will:
- Manage a range of project activities, coordinate project inputs in accordance with organisational practices, methods and standards appropriate to the complexity of the project;
- Support the management of schedule, risk, budget, preparation of briefings, submissions, reports and returns relating to the project progress and issues in accordance with organisational and Government requirements;
- Need experience in complex multi-vendor environments with the ability to integrate input from external industry partners;
- Coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members’; and
- Be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.

Our Ideal Candidate
As an APS5 Project Support Officer, you will be accountable, under broad direction, to perform and achieve complex tasks meeting GWEO Group objectives.
You will exercise both initiative and sound professional judgment in applying the appropriate professional practices and procedures as required.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Be responsible in contributing to the development and maintenance of project planning and project management methodologies to comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks;
- Contribute to project management related administration, including smaller research tasks, draft and prepare briefs for committee considerations;
- Engage with relevant stakeholders and understand their expectations and concerns, while building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships; and
- Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
