About the position:

The Visitor Experience Officer is responsible for creating a welcoming feel, providing a high level of tourist information services for visitors, residents and tourism operators, to assist the City in achieving its vision of Geraldton as a desirable tourist destination.

These positions also provide support to the Gallery, Public Art and Visitor Experience team in the day-to-day operational functions and administrative tasks, including assisting with the provision of a retail space at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery.

These positions are permanent part time, working 35 hours per fortnight. This is inclusive of one weekend shift per fortnight.

Key accountabilities:

As the visitor-interfacing ‘face’ of the City of Greater Geraldton, deliver a consistent and responsive visitor experience via a range of delivery methods, including face-to-face, email, phone, actively and equitably promote tour operator and accommodation bookings, encouraging visitors to extend their stay.

Proactively enhance visitor’s knowledge of the local area and region, providing them up-to-date information on things to do and see in and around the City.

Monitor sales to optimise on popular items and retail trends, and ensure retail space is tidy and well presented.

Work effectively within a team, assisting the Coordinator Gallery and Public Art as required.

Assist with the promotion of public arts, creative projects and Gallery exhibitions.

Position requirements:

The successful applicants would ideally have developed customer service and/or administrative experience with the ability to deal with a diverse range of visitors. In addition, an industry qualification in tourism or appropriate on the job training and experience would be highly valued.

The successful applicants will also demonstrate strong teamwork capabilities, with the ability to work both independently and as a team to achieve tasks and goals.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

This position has a salary starting from $76,072 per annum pro rata or $38.4981 per hour, offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
