Bendigo Foodshare (BFS) is a vibrant organisation that reduces food insecurity across Central Victoria.
Bendigo Foodshare commenced operations in 2013. It is a not-for-profit organisation, governed by a volunteer Board and staffed by more than 347 active volunteers. Our vision is that every person in central Victoria has secure access to healthy food. We work towards this through a dual strategy of food relief and prevention programs that build our community’s food security.

The Role:
The Community Relations Assistant is a part time role (0.8 FTE) offered on an ongoing basis. The position will work within a small team assisting across a wide variety of functions associated with fundraising, events and communications, to support achievement of Bendigo Foodshare’s overall community engagement goals. This role reports to the Community Relations Manager.
The Community Relations Assistant will:
· Assist in the promotion of the Bendigo Foodshare brand so that the organisation’s vision, purpose, services and programs are effectively conveyed.
· Contribute to the planning and delivery of BFS’ marketing and communications plan to raise awareness of Bendigo Foodshare’s work, impact and programs.
· Support delivery of fundraising and other community events (such as Food Drives, Book Fairs and Corporate Cooking program) working with internal and external stakeholders including volunteer teams to deliver these events.
· Contribute to the growth and development of relationships with local food donors including supermarkets.
· Lead BFS volunteer engagement, coordinating key communications including volunteer information sessions, monthly volunteer newsletter and volunteer events such as National Volunteer Week and volunteer end of year celebrations.

About You:
You will have a tertiary qualification in events or project management or demonstrated work experience in a comparable role. You will have good written and oral communication skills and be a self starter with the ability to work autonomously as well as within the wider team. You will have strong administrative and organisational skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

Key Selection Criteria:
A tertiary qualification or equivalent demonstrated experience, in communications and event or project management.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously as well as with the wider team with the ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers to achieve agreed objectives.
A commitment to the values of Bendigo Foodshare, with the ability to represent the organisation in a professional, sensitive and empathetic manner.
Strong administrative and organisational skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
Initiative and flexibility to respond to new opportunities as they arise.
Sound working knowledge of MS Office Platform.
Availability to work weekends as required. It is anticipated this will not exceed 6-8 weekends per annum.
