Position Title: Graduate Analyst
Employment Type: Full-time (Part-time considered) | Approx 12 month contract
Location: Canberra, ACT (Office-based with occasional flexible work)
Hourly Pay Rate: Between $52.15 - $61.44 per hour plus 12% superannuation, based on experience
Security Clearance/Requirements: Australian citizenship and NV2 security clearance required

Working Arrangements:
Primarily office-based due to access requirements for secure systems. Flexible work arrangements may be available on an ad-hoc basis.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to join a leading federal agency supporting national security and diplomatic efforts. You will work closely with senior staff to leverage diverse data sources, uncover trends, and provide actionable insights that influence key decisions and enhance security operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyse open-source and sensitive data feeds to identify patterns, trends, and potential future threats.
  
  
• Develop and manage accurate, timely reporting processes and provide insightful advice.
  
  
• Collaborate with stakeholders across various government divisions, including senior executives, to improve assessment and analytic procedures.
  
  
• Support senior staff with data preparation, visualization, and presentation of findings.
  
  
• Participate in initiatives to improve data governance and security operations.
  
  
• Prepare and present materials to enhance analytic capabilities within the agency.
  
  
• Undertake other duties as required by project leads.
  
  

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Mandatory:

• Recent graduate in Information Technology, Security Studies, Business, Commerce or related fields.
  
  
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
  
• Effective communicator, able to engage with colleagues and senior decision-makers both verbally and in writing.
  
  
• Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights.
  
  
• Collaborative team player focused on organisational goals.
  
  
• Australian citizen with NV2 clearance or ability to obtain.
  
  

Desirable:

• Experience with digital and data tools such as SQL, Power BI, and/or Python.
  
  
• Previous experience working with or in the Federal Government.
  
  
• Knowledge of MS Visio, HyperTerminal, and IP networks.
  
  
• Exposure to programming or analytical software like Python, Ruby, or Splunk.
