Seeking a Graduate Data Analyst who has a understanding of systems and tools such as SQL, Power BI, and/or Python

The Specified Personnel will be required to:

• Leverage open-source data and multiple sensitive data feeds to identify patterns and trends and anticipate potential future threats.
• Aid in the development and management of reporting processes to ensure accurate, complete, and timely outputs and advice.
• Engage with various stakeholders across Diplomatic Security Division (DSD) and broader department including senior executives, to champion improved assessment and analytic procedures.
• Support senior staff and other colleagues with data preparation, enhancement, visualisation and presentation on key findings, assessments, and priorities.
• Participate in change initiatives around data governance and other data processes to improve security operations and data management.
• Draft and present material to enable improved data and analytic capabilities within DSD and department
• Other duties as required by Project Officer.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Mandatory

The Contractor must be able to provide suitably qualified personnel with the skills, ability and qualifications including:

• Recent graduation in Information Technology, Security Studies, Business, Commerce related fields
• Experience with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated capacity to participate in discussions that identify solutions to data, system, or procedural issues.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate (spoken and written) with colleagues in a way that supports day-to-day operations.
• Strong writing skills, with the ability to translate data into clear and actionable insights for senior decision makers.
• Ability to assist senior staff and fellow team members to achieve organisational goals and objectives.

Desirable

It would be desirable for the Specified Personnel to have:

• Ability to demonstrate digital & data skills to enable evidence-based decisions. This includes understanding of systems and tools such as SQL, Power BI, and/or Python.
• Prior experience working in or with Federal Government
• Working knowledge of MS Visio (for layout diagrams), HyperTerminal and IP networks.
• Exposure to analytical or programming software packages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Splunk etc.)

Contract: 12 Months with 2 x 12 months extension option

Security Required: NV2 Security Clearance required

Location - Canberra, Hybrid based - This role is office-based. Flexible work may be available on an ad-hoc basis, but the nature of the work requires access to specific systems only available in the office.

Part-time work may be considered.
