Join Hardwood Forest Products Australia as a Mechanical Engineer Draft Person for Excavator, Skid Steer & Forestry Attachments

Must have a passion for the Earthmoving & Forestry Industry

Hardwood Forest Products Australia, a leading provider of robust and high-performance attachments for the heavy machinery sector, is seeking a talented and meticulous Mechanical Engineer / Draft Person to join our dedicated team. This pivotal role involves translating complex engineering concepts into accurate, manufacturable designs for our diverse range of excavator, skid steer, and forestry attachments, ensuring that all products meet stringent specific requirements and industry standards.

If you are a detail-oriented professional with a passion for precision and a strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing, we invite you to contribute to our innovative product development. While primarily a mechanical role, an understanding of hydraulic systems would be a significant advantage.

The Role: Engineering Draftperson

As an Engineering Draftperson at Hardwood Forest Products Australia, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between engineering vision and tangible products. Your responsibilities will include:

Creating Precise Technical Drawings: Developing detailed and comprehensive technical drawings for various attachments, including all necessary dimensions, material specifications, and manufacturing processes, utilising cutting-edge CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar industry-standard tools).

Providing Design Support: Assisting engineers in the conceptualisation and development of new attachments, offering valuable technical input, and generating initial concept sketches to bring ideas to life.

Ensuring Design Accuracy: Rigorously verifying that all drawings are accurate, complete, and meticulously adhere to all relevant engineering specifications and industry standards.

Material Selection Input: Participating in the selection of appropriate materials for attachment components, considering critical factors such as strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness.

Comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) Creation: Generating a thorough Bill of Materials (BOM) for each attachment, clearly outlining all necessary components required for efficient manufacturing.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely and effectively with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless design transitions and optimised production processes.

Effective Revision Management: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all design changes and updates throughout the entire product lifecycle, ensuring traceability and consistency.

Commitment to Staying Current: Proactively keeping abreast of the latest advancements in CAD software, evolving industry standards, and innovative manufacturing techniques to continuously enhance our capabilities.

Skills and Qualifications We Are Looking For:

To excel in this role, you should possess a strong blend of technical expertise and personal attributes:

Proficiency in CAD Software: Strong proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for both 2D and 3D design is paramount.

Exceptional Technical Drawing Skills: Proven ability to produce clear, accurate, and highly detailed technical drawings that are easily interpretable by manufacturing teams.

Understanding of Manufacturing Processes: A solid understanding of various manufacturing methods used in the fabrication of heavy equipment attachments.

Knowledge of Excavator Attachments: Familiarity with different types of excavator, skid steer, and forestry attachments and their practical applications.

Minimum 2 Years Experience

Strong Spatial Reasoning: An excellent ability to visualise and interpret complex 3D objects from 2D drawings.

Meticulous Attention to Detail: A meticulous eye for detail to ensure absolute accuracy in all drawings, designs, and specifications.

Effective Communication Skills: The ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.

Robust Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to identify design and manufacturing challenges and propose practical, effective solutions.

Relevant Education: A diploma or associate’s degree in engineering design, Mechanical Drafting, or a closely related field is required.

A passion for the earthmoving and forestry industry
