Broome CIRCLE is a not for profit organization providing a range of services to communities in the Shire of Broome. The purpose of this role is to develop and implement a range of culturally inclusive community development programs. The position requires a strong background in community development, community engagement and proven skills and experience in event and programme delivery and working with marginalized and disadvantaged communities. www.broomecircle.org.au

Community Development

Identify local community needs through research, consultation and identification of service gaps to determine and facilitate appropriate strengths-based responses.

Develop, plan and implement appropriate programs and projects in response to the identified needs, service gaps and community strengths.

Build relationships and networks with residents and community groups to encourage their participation in local activities and projects, with particular emphasis on hard to engage /disengaged residents.

Key Selection criteria

Tertiary qualification in social sciences, community development, social planning or similar is desirable.

Current drivers licence (preferably manual)

WWC Check & Police clearance or willing to get both

Previous experience in a similar role desired

Knowledge and Experience

Experience in working with diverse communities in a community development context.

Experience in the operation of grants programs and the preparation of funding submissions.

Experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships.

Experience working within a Community centre or Neighbourhood House environment is highly desirable.

Sound understanding of strengths-based community development theory, principles, roles and skills.

High level of computing skills including knowledge of the Windows MS Suite of applications required.

Proficiency with design programs such as Canva desirable
