Our public sector client is seeking a Community Safety & Improvement Specialist to join their team on a temporary contract, full-time basis. The role will be working 5 days per week/ 7.5 hours per day. This position is located within Perth's Eastern suburbs near to public transport and parking. The role will be working in a medium-sized and supportive team.
This specialist role supports the delivery of community safety initiatives by contributing to the development and implementation of strategic approaches informed by evidence-based research, technology options, and stakeholder engagement. It ensures that processes and projects align with best practice and relevant legislation, particularly in priority areas identified in the Community Safety Plan. Working closely with the Manager Community Safety, the role helps coordinate actions, manage contracts, and procure external services to strengthen both the Community Safety team and the broader organisation's efforts in addressing safety concerns across local suburbs.
Your new role
- Strategic and operational planning, including performance monitoring and analysis
- Conducting research and evaluation to support business planning and decision-making
- Developing project plans for strategies and initiatives, covering scope, objectives, budget, schedule, communication, and risk management
- Managing community safety projects and programs (e.g., school parking, illegal dumping, dogs in public places)
- Reviewing and maintaining processes, policies, and procedures related to community safety
- Supporting continuous improvement and reporting aligned with the Community Safety Plan
- Performing specialist assignments and investigations to ensure compliance with audit and risk requirements
- Identifying and applying for grant opportunities in collaboration with other agencies to address complex community safety issues
What you'll need to succeed
- High level of report writing and strategy development experience
- Demonstrated experience in consulting with community and internal stakeholders
- Knowledge of governance including, preparing and acquiring funding submissions
- Government experience would be desirable.
- Substantial research and analytical skills
- 3-5 years' experience in community safety projects
- Bachelor's Degree in Justice Studies, Social Sciences, Planning, Commerce, Management or a relevant field
- Current C Class Driving Licence
- Obtains or willingness to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check
