Job Description
Are you an experienced, focused, and enthusiastic community services professional who has years of experience working in community services sector in Australia and has a passion in training? This is an excellent opportunity for you to become a professional trainer in this field and join our dynamic team.
Australian Professional Skills Institute is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 52007) based in East Perth, within walking distance to CBD and all public transportation. APSI is currently seeking an experienced community services practitioner to take up a training position.
The ideal candidate should have at least three years of work experience in community services sector in Australia as well as delivering training to workers from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Selection Criteria:
Qualifications:
1. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
2. A community services related AQF qualification at Certificate IV or Diploma level
Work Experience:
1. Minimum of three years current professional experience in the community services sector.
2. Experience in delivering training face to face in a group learning environment
Skills and Knowledge:
1. Ability to work independently in planning and designing assessment tools, face to face delivery and conduct effective assessments.
2. A good understanding of current community services industry practice in an Australian context with emphasis on case management.
3. Advanced organisational skills and attention to detail with demonstrated effective time management skills and problem solving skills
4. Ability to effectively manage and apply key conflict resolution skills in a multi-cultural student environment.
5. High level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to use modern technology for teaching such as LMS platform (Moodle) and to assist in developing e-learning tools for course delivery.
7. Enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is able to demonstrate high level of current knowledge in the community services sector.
8. Proactively to identify potential workplaces and industry contacts to propose value-adding solutions.
9. Ability to build and strengthen the relationship with workplace training host employers and place students in their workplace experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare and deliver training and assessments, including recognition of prior learning to students in Diploma of community services.
2. Conduct and coordinate workplace training and assessments in the workplace according to APSI workplace policies and procedures and training package assessment requirements.
3. Liaise with various industry stakeholders and APSI training partners to discuss work placements and update on industry practices
4. Participate in validation and moderation of assessments and course materials on a regular prescribed basis.
5. Conduct industry consultation relevant to the units and the qualifications with industry experts.
6. Mark assessments and provide feedback to students according to APSI's assessment policy and procedure.
7. Maintain professional development/currency to ensure personal knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to their training and assessing duties and ensure they are current and constantly advanced.
8. Implement a continual improvement process regarding the training and assessment duties by acknowledging and acting on feedback from students and stakeholders
Salary package is negotiable based on current VET knowledge and experience.
