SCL Support Services is a trusted NDIS-registered provider committed to empowering people with disabilities through compassionate, person-centred support. We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced Disability Support Workerswith a strong background in complex care to join our expanding team in Coffs Harbour and Grafton.
About the Role
You will be working with participants who require a high level of support due to complex health needs, behavioural challenges, dual diagnoses, or restrictive practices. You’ll play a critical role in helping them live safely, independently, and with dignity in the community or within their own homes.
Duties may include:
Personal care (including PEG feeding, continence management, bowel care)
Manual handling and mobility support (hoisting and transfers)
Medication administration and monitoring
Implementation of Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
Supporting participants with social and community access
Domestic duties and meal preparation
Documenting shift notes, incident reports, and risk escalations
Working collaboratively with families, medical professionals, and allied health teams
Essential Criteria
To be successful in this role, you must have:
Minimum 12 months’ experience in a similar complex care setting
Strong understanding of positive behaviour support, trauma-informed care, and person-centred practices
Experience implementing restrictive practices under Behaviour Support Plans
Cert III or IV in Disability, Aged Care, Individual Support, or related fields
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
Current National Police Check (within the last 12 months)
Unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Completion of infection Control Module
Desirable (Highly Regarded)
PEG feeding, catheter care, bowel care, seizure management experience
Experience with non-verbal communication strategies (e.g., PECS, AUSLAN, or communication devices)
Medication administration training
Manual handling certificate
Mental Health First Aid
Knowledge of incident reporting and documentation requirements
Lived experience or experience working with Indigenous, CALD, or LGBTQIA+ participants
Compliance Requirements
This role involves working with vulnerable people. Before commencement, successful applicants will be required to complete or provide:
NDIS Worker Screening Check (must be cleared before commencing shifts)
Working with Children Check (NSW)
National Criminal History Check (dated within 12 months)
Right to Work in Australia documentation
Medical clearance (if required based on participant needs)
Participation in internal training and ongoing compliance refreshers
