About the Opportunity
You will join the People Partnering and Employee Relations team within the wider P&C function. The Senior Employee Relations Specialist plays an integral role within the team, responsible for providing independent and comprehensive strategic advice on complex employee relations issues, such as case management and the interpretation and correct application of industrial instruments and legislation to ensure compliance.
The accountabilities of the roles are:
- To provide a high level of specialist advice, case management, and guidance to internal stakeholders on a wide range of complex workplace relations issues, including organisational changes, the management of misconduct and substandard performance, grievances, and conflict resolution.
- Manages complex cases, including unfair dismissals, general protections claims, and formal disputes, providing support with appearances before the Fair Work Commission and other tribunals, as necessary.
- Provides independent advice to internal stakeholders on the interpretation and correct application of industrial instruments, policies, and related legislation.
- Develops policies and procedures in accordance with University priorities, including education programs and information tools to ensure compliance with legislative obligations and the continual improvement of internal employment practices and standards.
About you
You will hold a Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline and extensive relevant experience or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation.
You will have:
- Extensive knowledge of the Australian industrial relations legislative framework.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in managing complex cases and investigations, including unfair dismissals, general protections and dispute resolution processes.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in managing and providing advice on complex and high-risk industrial and employee relations issues to mitigate risks.
- Experience in the implementation of legislative reform.
- Proven influencing skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent writing and presentation skills
