The Opportunity
A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a Regional Tourism Manager to lead the delivery of our strategic vision. As the central point of contact for tourism operators and key stakeholders, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of tourism across the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong region.
This role offers a high level of autonomy and flexibility, including the option to work from home, with some regional travel and after-hours engagement required.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the implementation of the MRLCTA Strategic Plan and the region’s Destination Management Plan (DMP)
Foster industry growth by building capability, supporting product development, and driving regional competitiveness
Lead and facilitate collaboration among operators, local government, and tourism stakeholders
Develop and deliver strategic initiatives such as the regional motorsport touring route
Manage and evolve the regional tourism website and social media content plan
Build and maintain strong relationships with funding partners, including local councils and the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC)
Collaborate with SATC’s Destination Development and Marketing Teams to enhance and promote regional experiences
Represent the region on key committees and working groups, such as the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve
Seek new grant opportunities, partnerships and in-kind support
Oversee the organisation’s budget, board reporting, and financial administration
About You
You’re a dynamic, self-motivated leader with a deep understanding of regional tourism and a passion for building strong communities through strategic collaboration and sustainable development.
You will bring:
Sound knowledge and proven experience in regional tourism development
Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, product development and project delivery
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A collaborative mindset and commitment to supporting local tourism operators
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
Basic financial literacy and experience with budgeting and reporting
A proactive, solutions-focused attitude and the ability to adapt in a changing landscape
Additional Information
This is a 12-month contract role, with the potential for extension based on funding and strategic direction.
While the role is full-time, flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
