StandBy Support After Suicide, a program of Youturn, is Australia’s leading suicide postvention program dedicated to supporting people and communities bereaved or impacted by suicide.
StandBy builds community preparedness and resilience through extensive training to community and professional groups to ensure effectiveness and that duplicated effort is avoided. The program offers coordinated evidence-based support and resources (including connections to local services and groups) that is individualised for each person’s unique circumstance. StandBy is guided by local advisory groups – which includes community stakeholders as well as those with Lived Experience
About the Role
Youturn is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and relationship-driven Regional Manager to lead our service delivery across New South Wales. This role plays a pivotal part in advancing Youturn’s mission by guiding a multidisciplinary team, strengthening cross-sector partnerships, and delivering on both strategic priorities and contractual outcomes.
The position is responsible for leading suicide prevention and postvention services across parts of NSW, with a current focus on the StandBy Support After Suicide program. As new funding opportunities emerge, the role may broaden to include other initiatives aligned with Youturn’s strategic direction.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and purpose-led leader to make a lasting difference through meaningful, community-level impact.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Drive the implementation of Youturn’s Strategic Plan within the NSW region, ensuring consistency and alignment with national priorities.
Lead the delivery of high-quality, evidence-informed suicide prevention and postvention, with a focus on the StandBy Support After Suicide program.
Ensure robust clinical governance, safety, and continuous quality improvement across all regional services.
Identify growth and innovation opportunities aligned with organisational goals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Sector Influence
Build and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including State and Federal Government agencies, PHNs, consortia, and local community partners.
Represent Youturn and the StandBy program at external forums and sector initiatives, influencing outcomes that support improved service access and equity.
Foster collaborative partnerships that enhance service integration and community impact.
People Leadership & Organisational Culture
Provide inspirational leadership and direction to program managers and service teams.
Build a positive, high-performance workplace culture grounded in Youturn’s values.
Ensure effective workforce development, professional supervision, and support structures are in place.
Lead staff performance and capability planning across the region.
Operational Accountability
Ensure all contractual, funding, and compliance obligations are met or exceeded.
Maintain effective governance, systems, and reporting processes to support efficient, safe and responsive service delivery.
Manage risk, incident response and improvement actions in line with policy and practice expectations.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Qualifications & Experience
A relevant clinical tertiary qualification (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing or similar).
Demonstrated executive-level leadership experience in managing complex, multi-program human services.
Proven ability to build and sustain strong partnerships across government, sector, and community stakeholders.
Sound knowledge of the NSW and Federal human services landscape, policy frameworks, and funding systems.
Strong financial and contract management capabilities.
Exceptional communication, negotiation and governance skills.
Desirable
Full registration with AHPRA or membership with the AASW.
Mandatory Requirements
Current ‘C’ Class Driver Licence.
Eligibility to obtain a NSW Working with Children Check.
National Police Check clearance.
Full working rights in Australia.

StandBy is Australia’s leading suicide postvention program dedicated to assisting people and communities bereaved or impacted by suicide.
