Queensland Youth Services (QYS) is currently seeking a Quality & Compliance Officer

Status: Part-time (3 or 4 days per week) or Full-time depending on the best candidate.

Salary Level: Level 4 (increment level negotiated based on skills and experience)

Award: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award

In this vital role, you will support the organisation’s ongoing compliance with the Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF), Child Safety standards, and internal governance requirements. You will ensure continual readiness by managing the Compliance Management Calendar, conducting policy and procedure reviews, providing audit support, and coordinating training.

Key priorities include:

1. Compliance Oversight

Action the Compliance Management Calendar to ensure organisational and regulatory deadlines are met.

Monitor compliance activities and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Provide ongoing support to ensure readiness for external audits and reviews.

2. Policy and Procedure Management

Maintain and review organisational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HSQF and Child Safety frameworks.

Collaborate with service delivery teams to ensure policies are understood, accessible, and effectively implemented.

Identify opportunities to improve policy clarity and effectiveness.

3. Internal Audit and Quality Assurance

Support the coordination and execution of internal audits.

Assist in identifying compliance gaps, documenting findings, and facilitating corrective actions.

Track progress of audit recommendations and maintain documentation for quality assurance.

4. Training and Capability Development

Identify staff training needs related to compliance and quality standards.

Liaise with Learning & Development or external providers to implement training programs.

Maintain training records to ensure staff competency in quality and safety standards.

5. Continuous Improvement

Collaborate with operational teams to identify areas for improvement and support the implementation of best practice approaches.

Contribute to the organisation’s quality improvement planning and monitoring activities.

Help build a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organisation.

6. Administrative and Reporting Duties

Maintain accurate records and registers in line with compliance requirements.

Provide regular updates to management on compliance status, audit outcomes, and risk mitigation measures.

Assist with the preparation of reports, submissions, and funding applications as require

Key Internal and External Relationships

CEO and Executive Team – for reporting and strategic alignment.

Service Delivery Teams – to support compliance in day-to-day practice.

Learning & Development – to coordinate staff training and capability building.

External Auditors/Regulators – to support audit preparation and responses.

Qualifications and Experience (Mandatory)

Demonstrated knowledge of HSQF, Child Safety standards, and other relevant compliance frameworks.

Relevant qualifications or training in compliance, internal auditing, or quality management.

Experience in a compliance, quality, or audit-related role, preferably within the human services or community sector.

Skills and Attributes

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of compliance frameworks, risk management, and continuous improvement principles.

Experience in policy and procedure development and review.

Proficiency in tracking, monitoring, and reporting on compliance activities.

Interpersonal and Organisational Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage across diverse teams.

Organised, detail-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Professional Attributes

Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Ethical, confidential, and committed to upholding professional standards.

Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

Desirable

Experience supporting grant applications or compliance funding opportunities.

Familiarity with state or national safeguarding frameworks for children and vulnerable persons.
