About the business and the role

The position of Casual Medical Receptionist will support the operations of Bardon Rainworth Medical Centre. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of front-of-house reception responsibilities, including patient interaction, appointment bookings, medicare billings and medical record management.

Job tasks and responsibilities

The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for the daily running of the reception area. The role will be supported by the Practice Manager, and includes the following duties:

• Greeting patients and clients.
• Answering incoming calls.
• Booking and scheduling appointments.
• Generating patient accounts, collecting and processing payments, and receipts.
• Mail and correspondence, including e-mail/faxes and distributing incoming mail.
• Liaising with Medicare/Private Health Funds/Workcover/DVA
• Daily banking and Medicare claims.
• All other general administration duties as instructed.

Key Criteria for this role include:

• Experience in general practice is desirable but not essential.
• Exceptional customer service and delivery of quality service to GPs and patients.
• Excellent communication & customer service skills.
• A team player, someone who works well in a team environment
• Experience with Best Practice Management system is desirable but not essential.
• Available to work some Saturdays and available to cover sick leave at short notice
