ABOUT THE ROLE
The Disability Practice Lead will be responsible for leading the implementation of positive behaviour support and capacity building for adults with complex behaviour and psychosocial disability within a person-centred framework. We are seeking an experienced, innovative and dynamic Disability Practice Lead to support frontline staff and service coordinators in best practice, quality service delivery by using evidence-based assessments to ensure that models of support comprehensively meet the individual needs of the participants.
Based in Edwardstown, this role will require regular travel out of the office and visiting participants, and support workers at our various locations across Adelaide.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Work with Service Coordinators and other stakeholders to plan, develop and deliver capacity building supports for people with significant and often highly complex, therapeutic needs.
Work with participants, Service Coordinators, PBS Practitioners, and frontline staff to support the implementation of PBS plans.
Work with Service Coordinators and other stakeholders to support skills development, teaching functional life skills: including communication, social, self-care, daily living, recreation, employment, and community skills.
Work with Service Coordinators and other stakeholders to ensure that supported decision making is core to all participant support.
Use evidence-based assessment tools to support model development and implementation.
Provide analysis, review and evaluation of plan implementation, goal attainment and active support to further develop the CLO therapeutic model of support.
Develop resources to support PBS implementation and capacity building activities.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to be flexible and work in diverse and challenging situations
Experience in working with people who have complex needs associated with a moderate to severe mental illness
Understanding of psychosocial rehabilitation and capacity building for and with people with mental illness and psychosocial disabilities
Ability to implement individualised developmental programs and group programs
Current 'C Class' Driver's Licence
Valid NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or DHS Disability Clearance.
Valid Working with Children Check
Willing to obtain a Psychological Assessment if required
Satisfy all Visa requirements to work in Australia
Tertiary Qualifications that meet NDIS requirements for Developmental Educator including but not limited to a Bachelor’s degree in Disability Developmental Education, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or equivalent

You will be adaptable to fast-paced and changing environments and have an in-depth understanding of the NDIS and how this impacts participants, service providers and staff.
