The Opportunity We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Payroll Manager for a minimum 6-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension. You'll lead a team of 5+ payroll professionals and be responsible for the accurate and compliant delivery of payroll services across a diverse and dynamic workforce.
This role will also support the successful implementation of a new HRIS (iChris), replacing the current Preceda environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll operations for over 1,000 employees across Australia
• Manage, mentor and develop a payroll team, fostering accountability and growth
• Ensure ongoing compliance with payroll legislation, tax, superannuation, awards, and enterprise agreements
• Oversee internal audits and contribute to external audit readiness
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, Risk and Legal to ensure accurate payroll governance
• Drive process improvements and automation to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency
• Support system transition from Preceda to iChris
• Contribute to M&A payroll integration and other transformation projects
• Maintain internal controls, data integrity and confidentiality

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years’ payroll experience, with 5+ years in a senior or management role
• Strong track record managing end-to-end payroll in medium to large organisations
• Advanced knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, and taxation obligations
• Demonstrated experience with payroll systems such as Preceda, iChris, or Chris21
• Experience leading or supporting HRIS or payroll system implementations
• Strong communication skills with ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
• High attention to detail, analytical capability and a process improvement mindset
• Experience with payroll audits, system transitions, or M&A payroll activities is a plus
