We’re seeking a Payroll Manager who doesn’t just “do the job” – but owns it.
This is a high-trust environment that needs someone who can take the reins, rebuild confidence in the function, and navigate complex industrial awards with both precision and courage.
You’ll report to a Head of Finance who backs their people. You’ll also work closely with HR and manage one direct report.

What You’ll Actually Do

• Manage full end-to-end payroll for 500+ staff under multiple awards and agreements
• Own award interpretation – and be the SME who ensures compliance
• Resolve the legacy issues – take charge of the clean-up and bring it into the now
• Support HRIS and payroll system implementation projects
• Work closely with HR to ensure accurate onboarding and employee lifecycle changes
• Lead and mentor a Payroll Specialist
• Deliver accurate and insightful payroll reporting, audits, reconciliations, and compliance

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• 10+ years of payroll experience, including leadership roles
• Strong award interpretation and payroll legislation knowledge
• Proven track record in managing complex payrolls with conflicting priorities
• Ability to set clear boundaries, manage expectations, and keep calm under pressure
• Systems savvy – HRIS and payroll implementation experience highly regarded
• A customer service mindset – but with firm, professional delivery
