Amity Pacific is a Sydney headquartered metals trading company, established in 1986. We are involved in import and trading of various metals, particularly steel. Our suppliers are based all around the world particularly in Asia and our customers are primarily in Australia and New Zealand. Our competitive advantage is in our leading customer service and our deep relationships with suppliers and customers. Despite our modest size we are, in certain segments, amongst the largest importers in Australia.
As the assistant to the Administration and Logistics Manager you will need to correspond with people all over the world and your success will depend on clear communication skills. You will be assisting with the import of a large volume of critical raw materials for Australian manufacturing, construction, mining, agriculture, forestry, defence and utilities. Your goal will be to accurately and effectively handle the logistics, shipping, contract administration and invoicing to maintain our market leading customer satisfaction.
The role would suit somebody looking for long term stable employment, our employee retention and length of service is one of our strengths. We certainly appreciate that our diligent staff are what separates us from our competition. You would work in a small intimate team in our office located in central Crows Nest right next to the new metro station. The job is a full-time position, however we can be flexible with start and finish times for working parents.
To be seriously considered for this role please note the following.
- There are no specifically required educational requirements, however the role does demand strong intelligence, attention to detail and adaptability.
- Work experience in related fields, particularly import, metals, or logistics is an advantage, but not a requirement.
- The successful applicant will have to have a good understanding of Microsoft office with particular emphasis on Excel.
- This job is not suitable for recent graduates or first time job seekers.
- To succeed in this role you should be self-motivated, work well in teams and interested in learning.
- Working from home is not compatible with learning this role. It could be something negotiated after 12 months on a limited basis.
- Bookkeeping experience would be an advantage but not required.
