A market leader in automated gates, bollards, turnstiles, and access control systems is looking for a technically capable Business Development Manager to join their Melbourne-based team. With local engineering support and a national footprint, this is an opportunity to step into a high-trust role with a blend of new and repeat business, and large infrastructure projects .
The brand is known to anyone in the access automation or perimeter security space, a trusted name in commercial, government, and transport sectors .
Responsibilities
Owning the VIC territory, managing a mix of repeat clients and new business development
Visiting client sites to understand project needs, sketch basic layouts, and guide specification
Quoting complex perimeter security systems where precision matters — think vehicle access, gate automation, and integrated safety sensors
Working alongside technical and engineering teams to ensure solutions are accurate and deliverable
Managing deals that can range from $50k–$950k, from quick turnarounds to 18-month projects
Your Profile
Has 3–5+ years’ experience in technical or solution-based B2B sales — ideally in gates, access control, lifts, automation, industrial controls, security, or similar
Can learn fast and translate technical complexity into customer-friendly solutions
Has enough curiosity to ask “What happens if we use a different motor here?” or “Will this comply with site specs?”
Enjoys the blend of working on-site, meeting with facility managers, councils, project leads — and collaborating internally with engineering and product teams
Can juggle longer sales cycles and project-based work, not just chasing the next quick deal
