Purpose of the Role
The Bid Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating SBA’s end-to-end tender and bid processes, ensuring all submissions are strategically positioned, compliant, and aligned with business objectives. This role plays a critical function in post-estimation engagement, client follow-ups, competitor analysis, and bid performance tracking—maximising SBA’s win rate and market intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Coordination
Lead and manage the preparation, review, and submission of tenders, EOIs, and RFTs.
Liaise with Estimators, Drafters, Project Managers, and Commercial teams to gather accurate and compelling bid content.
Maintain and update a central bid library of standard content, project profiles, and capability statements.
Post-Estimation Client Engagement
Follow up on submitted tenders to obtain bid outcomes, client feedback, and pricing positioning.
Build and maintain relationships with client-side procurement, estimators, and decision-makers.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
Track and report on competitor pricing trends, win/loss ratios, and emerging opportunities.
Provide insights to the leadership team on SBA’s market competitiveness and pricing strategy.
Pipeline & CRM Management
Maintain accurate records of bid submissions, deadlines, and outcomes in the CRM or tender tracking system.
Support the development of a rolling pipeline aligned to target clients and sectors.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure all submissions meet client compliance requirements and align with SBA’s brand, messaging, and commercial risk thresholds.
Coordinate internal reviews, sign-offs, and risk assessments before final submission.
Skills & Experience
5+ years’ experience in bid management, tender coordination, or commercial support roles, preferably in construction, engineering, or steel fabrication.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to translate technical information into persuasive narratives.
Commercial acumen with understanding of margins, pricing strategy, and risk in project delivery.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM/tender tracking systems.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously under pressure.
