Australia's firearms regulations are widely regarded as a global benchmark, yet systematic gaps remain and addressing them is key to preventing future firearm related tragedies.
On 1 July 2024, the National Firearms Register (NFR) Program commenced. The NFR will function as a unified system, drawing information from existing Commonwealth, state and territory firearms registries, portals and management platforms into one centralised database. This will provide national oversight by providing a clear end-to-end view of firearms, ownership and licensing information across all states and territories. The NFR will enhance police and community safety and improve law enforcement capability.
About the role:
The Senior Project Manager will play a key technical lead role for Victoria in the NFR Program, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, stakeholder expectations, and quality standards. The ideal person will enjoy working in a role that blends strategic thinking with a hands-on approach. You will be passionate about digital transformation and working collaboratively to achieve a common goal. You will bring together technical expertise, strategic thinking, exceptional project management and outstanding leadership to deliver resilient, robust and secure systems to Victoria Police.

Your duties will include:
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to manage the allocated program/project resources to execute deliverables on time, within budget and to a high quality against scope.
- Take ownership of delivery across the full lifecycle, from planning and execution to post-launch support.
- Cultivate and maintain strategic professional relationships with internal stakeholders and other government agencies.
- Facilitate workshops and technical discussions to promote knowledge sharing and alignment across teams and stakeholders.
- Develop monthly tracking mechanisms and dashboards to monitor and reporting progress to key milestones and progress.
- Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time-to-time.
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Proven record of delivering high impact business systems, process improvements and robust technology solutions
- Demonstrated experience in project management and a sound understanding of project management processes and methodologies
- Strong technical expertise across infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, cloud services, and emerging digital technologies
- Ability to effectively manage high volumes of work and competing priorities, including the ability to adapt and respond to change and manage changing team and stakeholder needs
- Skilled in influencing senior stakeholders and navigating governance in structured public sector environments
- Excellent written communication, with the ability to simplify complex technical information into clear compelling outputs
- Sound judgement with an innovative approach to problem-solving.
Further Information:
- One (1) x full-time, 3-year fixed term position available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
