About the position

An essential and challenging opportunity has arisen to fulfil the position of Ranger/Compliance Officer with Greater Hume Council. As Ranger, you provide an essential service to the community including, animal and stock control and animal welfare education to the public, inspection of onsite sewage management systems, investigation of minor environmental offences, enforcement of local laws and Council policy as well as building and maintaining vital working relationships with other agencies.

This position requires:

- Knowledge of the Companion Animals Act and Regulations and the Local Government Act orders and approvals regulations;

- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including interview skills, negotiation and conflict resolution, public presentations and report writing;

- Ability to respond to emergency call outs at any time and be available for standing on call arrangements on a regular basis;

- Traffic Control;

- Current White Card;

- Current First Aid Certificate;

- Current Firearms Licence – Current NSW A & B Firearms Licence, or ability to obtain a NSW Commissioner Permit; and

- Current Class 'MR' Drivers Licence.

The position of Ranger/Compliance Officer is based at Council's Culcairn Office. A fully equipped Council vehicle (Ute) is provided for official Council duties and travel to and from work, is also provided with this position. A salary in the range of $1,416.00 - $1,585.90 gross per 38 hour week will be offered plus a 9-day fortnight working arrangement, 12% p.a. superannuation and generous on call provisions.
