Based in Corowa, but will work across the Federation Council area

The opportunity
To maintain existing and populate new Geographical Information System (GIS) datasets. You will also be required to provide support, management and advice on geographic information and show initiative in developing innovative GIS solutions to support corporate business and management priorities.
In this role you will:
Develop and maintain Council’s computer based Geographical Information System (GIS);
Prepare, maintain and update existing GIS related products and services;
Collect and prepare data from a variety of sources for entry into the GIS and ensure accuracy of information held with the GIS;
Continue to improve the integrity of information held within Councils GIS and associated datasets;
Investigate options, prepare estimates and recommendation for updates;
Show initiative and provide ideas and solutions to GIS matters including those that achieve improvements in Council’s services to the community, achievement of organisational efficiency, compliance with regulation and achievement of best practice;
Responding to general enquires for GIS related products, services and functions as well as to provide advice to other professionals, customers and interested parties;
Plan, organise, set priorities and manage time, so that objectives are achieved within an agreed timeline;
Liaise with the Information Technology (IT), asset and finance departments;
Undertake filed surveys for new and existing assets and input into Councils Asset and GIS systems;
Maintain and update Councils Asset and GIS systems and ensure the accuracy of the information held in these systems;
Interpret as constructed asset data from internal and external sources and input into Council’s asset and GIS systems in an efficient manner;
Manage and maintain process and procedures for dial before you dig requests;
Investigate emerging issues and technologies, prepare estimates and provide recommendations to management;
Provide advice and assistance to all section of Council on GIS issues and usage;
Perform other tasks and duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training;
Undertake, attend and successfully complete all training requirements that have been identified by the organisation.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications
Hold a degree in spatial science, geographical information and data analysis or other relevant field. Or significant relevant experience in these fields.
Hold a current and valid class "C" driver's licence.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in GIS administration specifically using IntraMaps, Pozi, QGIS, and/or PostGIS.
Demonstrated ability to manage time, set priorities as well as plan and organise one's own work to achieve set objectives in the most efficient way possible within the available resources and timeframe.
Proven ability to ensure data integrity through demonstrated attention to detail and quality data input.
Well-developed people and relationship skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment communicating and motivating effectively at all levels of the organisation, contributing to a positive work environment with a strong focus on provision of quality customer service
Demonstrated ability to meet the capability requirements of this position as defined in the capability statement.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1551.40 per week with progression up to $1755.40 per week dependent upon skills and experience.
