Council on the beautiful northern beaches of NSW is seeking a self-motivated Environmental Health Officer.

The primary focus of the role will be on carrying out Food Premises Inspections. This will involve undertaking thorough inspections in order to ensure safe food preparation and storage in local food shops, restaurants and other similar establishments.
Your new role
An exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer to be part of a dynamic team responsible for protecting, promoting and enhancing environmental health standards within the Local Government area.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake regulatory inspections under relevant environmental and public health legislation. The primary focus of the role will be on carrying out Food Premises Inspections. This will involve undertaking thorough inspections in order to ensure safe food preparation and storage in local food shops, restaurants and other similar establishments. There will also be various other aspects to the role, including skin penetration and dealing with general complaints.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor of Natural Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent;
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation associated with environmental health, including the Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003, Public Health Act 2010, Protection of the Environmental Operations Act 1997 and regulations thereunder.
- Experience in the investigation, monitoring and inspection of premises to ensure compliance with health and environmental standards
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills
What you'll get in return
This is an initial 6-month contract which will give you the potential opportunity of extension with local government paying an hourly rate of $55.00- $65.00 per hour + superannuation.
