About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Corporate Governance & Council Services, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for delivering Council-related services and supporting high-quality governance practices. You’ll balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a dynamic environment, ensuring that Council operations run smoothly, compliantly and efficiently.
This is a key leadership role responsible for stakeholder management, including elected members, executives and the wider community, while fostering a team culture aligned with the City's values.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Council Services team to deliver excellent internal and external customer service.
- Provide specialist advice on governance, legislation, meeting procedures and Council operations.
- Ensure high standards of service delivery, reporting, compliance and risk management.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with elected members, City staff, government agencies and community stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement systems and processes to enhance Council support services.
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning aligned with the City’s Corporate Business Plan.
About You
You are a proactive and skilled coordinator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You possess strong leadership capabilities, political acumen and a collaborative mindset to manage a range of stakeholders.
To be successful, you will have:
- A qualification in Management, Business, Local Government or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience in governance, stakeholder engagement and legislative interpretation
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills within political or community-focused environments
- Strong planning, risk management and process improvement capabilities
