Join Our Team as a Leader in Port Operations!

Are you ready to take the helm and steer the operational performance of our Port Operations Branch to new heights? In this dynamic role, you'll be at the forefront of strategic development and delivery of the Port Operations Program. Your expertise will be crucial in administering the Shipping and Pilotage Act 1967, ensuring smooth maritime operations, and performing Deputy Harbour Master functions across S&P Act ports throughout the State. You will also support the strategic development and delivery of the Port Operations Program.

To excel in this role, you will have a knack for developing and implementing risk management principles, procedures, and policies within a maritime and port regulatory environment. In-depth knowledge of International, National, and State conventions and management arrangements related to maritime operations and environmental emergencies in Western Australia, and exceptional communication skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure.

The work schedule is predominantly Monday to Friday, with shared on-call duties outside of standard hours (generous allowance applicable!). This opportunity promises a great work-life balance with some regional travel, offering the best of both worlds for qualified professionals in Perth.

The Manager Port Operations is a full-time permanent opportunity.

The successful applicant or applicants assessed as suitable through this process may receive further offers of employment (fixed term or permanent) in this or similar roles for a period of twelve (12) months from date of first appointment.

About you

  • You are an experienced people leader with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • You can identify problems and develop solutions whilst working under pressure in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.
  • You can cultivate strong, productive working relationships and partnerships.
  • You can produce high level plans, guidance notes and correspondence for a range of stakeholders.
  • You have sound knowledge of maritime conventions and arrangements as they pertain to shipping operations and emergencies.

Candidates must hold a minimum of a Master <500 GT Certificate of Competency issued under Marine Order 70 and Marine Order 71 made under the Commonwealth Navigation Act 2012 or a recognised equivalent.
