Who is STAR Community Services?

We are an award-winning not-for-profit organisation providing a range of aged care services including Home Care Packages, NDIS and disability support services since 1996. STAR supports the elderly and people with disability to live independently, engage with the wider community and achieve their goals. With the generous support of local community volunteers, we offer a wide range aged care and disability support services to ensure that the vulnerable members of our community can access affordable and reliable services such as Home Care Packages, transport, in-home help, social activities, companionship and more. We are an advocate of inclusive communities where people of all ages and abilities have equal access to opportunities and facilities. Fighting social isolation is a key area of focus for STAR. We regularly organise programs and events to help reduce the growing problem of social isolation amongst the elderly and people with disabilities. We are currently servicing Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast & Toowoomba areas.

The Training and Development Officer will play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities of STAR Community Services' workforce. This position involves analysing training needs, facilitating development opportunities, delivering inductions, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. The officer will work collaboratively with line managers and external providers to create a knowledgeable, skilled, and compliant workforce aligned with the organization's goals.

What are the Key responsibilities?

Analyse and develop training and development needs in collaboration with line managers to address immediate and long-term staff requirements.

Plan or facilitate training and development opportunities to enhance staff capabilities.

Organise training schedules for new starters, ensuring collaboration with current staff who will mentor them.

Deliver comprehensive staff inductions to align with the organisation's goals.

Monitor progress through training programs, including E-Learning, and provide monthly reports to management.

Revise training programs to meet organizational changes or statutory requirements, as directed by management.

Ensure mandatory training for workers is current.

Liaise with training providers to ensure proper setup and equipment requirements are met.

Collaborate with external training providers for cost-effective and efficient training service delivery when needed.

valuate existing learning programs, recommend changes, and implement approved modifications.

What will you bring to the role?

Cert IV Workplace Training and Assessment (desired) or minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar environment

Proven experience in training and development, preferably within the community services sector

Strong understanding of e-learning methodologies and tools

Demonstrated ability to handle the challenges that occur in an organisation driven by change and innovation
