Deadly Choices Program Training Officer – Identified Role

About Us?
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region.
IUIH has developed the Deadly Choices Strategy in combination with consortium members across Queensland and the Deadly Choices brand and programs are widely recognised as a cutting edge health promotion and education initiatives.
About the Role?
The Program Development team is responsible for leadership in the ongoing development and review of the content, state-wide application and delivery of Deadly Choices programs to ensure the integrity, quality and effectiveness of program brand, implementation and outcomes. This position is responsible for working with a designated Member/sub-contracted ACCHS, in line with the regional action plan and the Deadly Choices and Smoking Cessation Procedures manuals, to:
- Support program implementation and address issues as they arise
- Support ongoing development of workforce capability, through effective monitoring, training and support to regional Deadly Choices teams
- Monitor and review program delivery, content, systems, processes and outcomes, to inform continuous quality improvement, promoting standardisation and increasing integration with ACCHSs practices and programs
Your day-to-day duties may include:
- Input to the design, development, review and continuous improvement of the Deadly Choices education program modules, training resources and materials
- Deliver state-wide support to regional team across Queensland and evaluate program and overall team performance
- Provide regular team and program activity reports to the Manager and ACCHS management as required
- Support the implementation of a structured workforce development plan that underpins continuous service development and improvement, including standard structures, staff training plan and ongoing professional development
- Manage the timely provision of support, mentoring and advice to Regional DC Coordinators and DC Program Officers as requested, to assist in building capability. This may include one on one sessions and partnering in program delivery to improve program knowledge, delivery skills, process skills and participant management
- Plan, support, deliver and evaluate staff training, education program site visits, and training workshops
About You?
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
- Current Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Blue Card
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
