Our participants, Our people, Our purpose

Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role to make a positive impact on participant experience, sustainability and quality? This position provides an opportunity to use your critical thinking, written communication and research skills to collect quality data for analysis.

You will join a specialised team in the Performance, Quality and National Workload Management Branch (PQNWM) to undertake a range of highly qualitative projects to inform Agency priorities and improvement activities. PQNWM assists the Agency to better understand its work, so it can improve its work for the benefit of our participants, staff, partners, providers and other stakeholders. The branch supports high-quality participant experience through delivery of reporting and insights of the Agency's work, in the areas of continuous improvement, quality, productivity, sustainability, workload and workforce management.

Where you can add value

You will thrive on dedicating the time, energy and knowledge required to deliver high quality work effectively to meet project requirements. You are a reliable team member able to consistently apply guidance to assess quality, legislative, and process compliance using information recorded in the Agency’s business systems.

You will demonstrate strong analytical, decision-making and communication skills by providing clear, objective assessments, and referencing relevant evidence. Your attention to detail ensures accurate and complete data collection to meet project timeframes.

You will also contribute to continuous improvement by supporting the development and implementation of strategies that align with branch goals and broader strategic objectives.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

Our ideal candidate will enjoy working independently in a geographically dispersed team, with staff often working on different projects at different times.

Your time management skills and curiosity for learning new things will go hand in hand, as you develop the subject matter expertise required for each project to collect and record quality data. Where there are gaps in information, you will draw on your critical thinking skills and available resources to exercise sound judgement to make an assessment.

Although you are a stickler for fine details, you also understand the purpose of the NDIS, the reform agenda and have an unwavering focus on participant experience and outcomes.

You are proactive and demonstrate accountability for delivering quality work, and respectfully engage in team discussions to seek clarity where needed. As a team member who takes responsibility for their work, you value a supportive feedback culture for continuous improvement and can steer commitment to action.

While data skills using Excel and qualifications or experience in data science, allied health, public health, disability, or related fields are desirable, they are not essential. Experience using customer relationship management systems is preferred, but not essential.

Your NDIA Experience

We work as one team. We are accepting, diverse and driven. We take a shared approach to making progress. We welcome and support each other and encourage different ideas, insights and opinions. We empower and enable each other to be our best. We collaborate, connect and work together to create a workplace that makes us proud. And while we're based far and wide across the country, we make sure nobody feels they are out on their own.

  • You will work for a socially inclusive and culturally diverse workplace, that is making a meaningful impact to the lives of more than 700,000 Australians.
  • Access to higher superannuation and above market leave entitlements
  • Competitive remuneration and working conditions that support a positive work life balance
  • Access to ongoing professional development and learning

While this role is ideally performed from ACT - Deakin, NSW - Surry Hills, QLD - Townsville, SA - Adelaide & VIC - Richmond, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.

Applications for this role close 11.30pm Thursday 24 July 2025 AEST
