CADA is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist (SCHADS Award Level 6) to lead the delivery of effective HR and compliance practices across our organisation of over 70 employees in collaboration with the leadership team. Acting as a 2IC to the Manager Operations and Compliance, the role works closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive all stages of the employee lifecycle, workforce planning, policy development and compliance with legislative and funding requirements. While embedded within our Operations and Compliance team, this is a standalone HR role.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, a strong understanding of the Fair Work Act and relevant employment legislation and an ability to translate complex HR matters into practical guidance. This role also drives continuous improvement and strategic planning and ensures that CADA maintains high standards of compliance, safety and inclusion.
We’re looking for someone who leads with kindness, understands the importance of procedural fairness, and brings others along on the journey. Someone who can meet people where they’re at, tailor their advice to suit different communication styles and make complex information practical and accessible.
This role is part time up to 58 hours per fortnight (four day week).
Note: This role is titled Coordinator Human Resources internally and is classified at Level 6 of the SCHADS Award.

About Us
The Centre Against Domestic Abuse (CADA) is a community organisation funded by the Queensland Government to respond to adults and children affected by domestic and family violence. We provide counselling and crisis/court support, referrals, risk assessment and safety planning, and high risk integrated service responses, as well as trauma informed recovery focused support for women. CADA is active in advocacy, community education and early intervention and, prevention strategies work towards a future free from domestic and family violence, in partnership with government and organisations working in the sector. We operate from offices at Caboolture, Redcliffe and Strathpine.

Have a tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field and at least 5 years’ experience in a generalist or HR leadership role
Are confident interpreting and applying the Fair Work Act, SCHADS Award and NES to provide practical, best practice advice
Have experience leading HR operations such as recruitment, onboarding, performance support and employee wellbeing initiatives
Are comfortable driving the development and review of organisational policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with quality standards (e.g. HSQF)
Are an excellent communicator who adapts your style to connect with and support a range of people
Enjoy solving problems and supporting others to navigate challenges with fairness and compassion
Have experience working in the community services or not-for-profit sector - or a strong interest in learning
What you’ll be doing
As our Coordinator Human Resources, you will:
Provide strategic and day to day HR advice to the CEO and leadership team
Lead recruitment, onboarding, induction and staff training initiatives
Manage HR documentation, contracts and employee records across systems including SharePoint, TANDA and Tribal Habits
Manage and support the resolution of workplace matters, including grievances, complaints and misconduct, ensuring processes are fair, trauma informed and aligned with CADA’s values and legislative obligations
Contribute to workforce planning and support HR strategy development
Drive the development, review and implementation of policies and procedures
Stay up to date with employment legislation and share insights across the organisation
Support quality and compliance efforts, including audit preparation
Contribute to a safe, inclusive and high performing workplace culture
Support and mentor staff as required

Selection Criteria
Tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in Human Resources, with demonstrated ability to interpret and apply industrial agreements and employment legislation to provide practical, best practice advice, ideally within services supporting women and families or active interest in working with women and families.
Working knowledge of relevant legislation required to meet standards, particularly Human Services Quality Framework Accreditation and Workplace Health and Safety and proven ability to draft, review and implement policies and procedures that align with sector standards and legislative requirements.
Strong presentation skills and demonstrated high level of interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills (verbal and written) with experience producing reports, policy documents and briefings. Demonstrated ability to engage confidently with stakeholders and tailor advice to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to manage workload to a high standard ensuring timelines are met. High level problem solving and conflict resolution skills desirable.
Demonstrated experience leading or supervising others, contributing to capability building, team wellbeing or continuous improvement.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodivergent individuals, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities and a sound knowledge and understanding the issues which impact diverse communities in contemporary society.
