At Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD), our vision is Trusted care. Better health for everyone.
This is a rare and deeply rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and experienced social worker to make a tangible difference in the lives of people living with cancer.
About the Role
· Based in the Cancer Day Unit at Gosford Hospital, this part-time role offers meaningful work with genuine work/life balance, perfect for someone seeking consistent, fulfilling hours over three weekdays, Wednesday-Friday.
· You’ll work as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary outpatient team providing advanced psychosocial care, counselling, advocacy and support to patients with cancer and their families/carers.
· The role centres on building relationships, creating safe spaces for emotional exploration, and helping individuals navigate the life-changing impacts of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
· You’ll have the autonomy to lead your own clinical practice while being actively supported by a network of senior clinicians and the broader Cancer Services team.
· Your contribution will be key in providing continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings, while also shaping service development and mentoring future social workers.
About You
You are a senior clinician with:
A degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (international qualifications must be AASW-assessed)
A strong understanding of the psychosocial impacts of chronic illness, with ideally some experience in oncology, palliative care or related fields
Demonstrated ability to provide complex assessments, counselling, brief therapy, advocacy and case planning
A deeply empathetic nature, capable of supporting patients and families with compassion, emotional insight, and clinical skill
Confidence in working independently within a multidisciplinary team
Experience or interest in mentoring, clinical supervision, and contributing to service improvement
A current National Police Check, WWCC, and NSW Driver’s Licence
You’re someone who finds purpose in meaningful connection, who brings quiet strength to vulnerable moments, and who values being part of a patient’s journey in the most human way.
What We Offer
A part-time, consistent schedule across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
A collaborative, values-aligned multidisciplinary team
Opportunities to contribute to service design, evaluation and student supervision
Generous salary packaging, career mobility across NSW Health, and access to Fitness Passport
A role where your presence truly matters to the people you serve
