Current Vacancies:
Wyong Hospital ED – Thursday, Friday, Saturday | 4:00pm–11:00pm
Gosford Hospital ED – Friday, Saturday and every second Sunday | 4:00pm–10:00pm
These permanent part-time positions offer stability, impact, and the chance to lead after-hours service delivery in a supportive team environment.
About the Roles
· No two shifts are ever the same.
· In this highly autonomous position, you’ll provide psychosocial assessments, crisis support, and trauma-informed care during the hours when patients and families often need it most.
· You’ll be embedded within a multidisciplinary ED team, responding in real time to high-stakes situations including family violence, elder abuse, child protection, and acute mental health presentations.
· Whether you’re supporting a grieving family, managing a complex discharge, or guiding a patient through a moment of critical vulnerability, your impact will be immediate and lasting.
· These are not entry-level roles, they’re made for seasoned professionals who can lead with empathy, think on their feet, and bring clarity in the face of complexity.
About You
You’re a highly experienced clinician with:
A degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (international qualifications must have AASW assessment)
At least 2 years' post-qualification experience, with a strong background in acute care, emergency or trauma-informed settings
A track record of working independently in complex, emotionally charged environments, you are calm under pressure, clinically sound, and confident making critical decisions on your own
Skills in crisis intervention, brief therapy, family violence response, advocacy and case coordination
A commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive and patient-centred care
Confidence in providing clinical guidance, mentorship and support to colleagues and students
A current NSW Driver’s Licence, WWCC, and National Police Check
Above all, you’re someone who thrives on the unpredictability, urgency and diversity of ED work — a natural problem-solver who enjoys stepping into complexity and making a difference.
What We Offer
Regular, structured after-hours shifts with real work/life balance
A well-established, senior-led team with strong clinical supervision
Opportunities for innovation, service development and leadership
Generous salary packaging, access to Fitness Passport and internal career mobility across NSW Health
