The Opportunity
As the Recycling Education and Communications Officer, you will develop recycling education programs that can be delivered in a range of settings across East Gippsland. From social and mainstream media to face to face activities in schools and community events to positively influence behaviour that will minimise waste going to landfill and help community look after our beautiful environment.
You will also provide specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with our media team, and engaging schools and community groups to improve awareness of council’s recycling and waste minimisation initiatives.
This is a part time position, working 3.5 days per week (other configurations may also be discussed) from the Lakes Entrance office. Opportunity for additional hours may be available supporting broader sustainability initiatives.
Things You’re Proud Of (Key Selection Criteria)
- Tertiary qualifications in either education, communications, marketing, media design, environmental sustainability education and/or significant relevant experience in the marketing, communications or education field preferred.
- Experience working in rural/regional communities.
- Demonstrated experience in working with a range of stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Relevant knowledge and understanding about waste, litter, recycling issues and sustainable living.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to responsibly self-direct and work autonomously.
- Relevant skills in written media, spreadsheets, graphic design programs and websites
- Demonstrated ability to improve the community experience through effective waste education programs.
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check and have an employee Working with Children Check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
