About the role
Looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team for our restaurant in Nerang, QLD. As Chef, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our customers. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for leading the kitchen team and ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and service.
What you'll be doing
Overseeing all aspects of meal preparation, including menu planning, food ordering, and kitchen operations
Preparing and cooking a variety of high-quality dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients
Mentoring and supervising the kitchen team to maintain consistent food quality and presentation
Ensuring strict compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
Collaborating with the management team to develop new menu items and enhance the dining experience
Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
Opening and setting up the kitchen everyday for lunch and dinner
Meeting and greeting restaurant guests when possible or requested by the customers
Prepare, season and cook to order food on our menu
Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices
Support the training and success of job work experience members and volunteers
Maintain inventory and order restaurant supplies
Organise work experience members and volunteers while providing appropriate guidance
Oversight to complete daily kitchen tasks including cooking, food prep, stocking and assisting in serving meals
Assist restaurant management in making and editing restaurant menus
Adhere to all safety, nutrition, food handling and sanitation requirements of the public health department
Help keep refrigerators and freezers clean, and food labelled
Select, train and supervise kitchen staff when necessary
Assist restaurant management in catering when necessary
What we're looking for
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chef in a fast-paced hospitality environment
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality (AQF) or equivalent
Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines
Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
A creative mindset and passion for using high-quality, fresh ingredients
Ability to work effectively in a team and mentor junior kitchen staff
Thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
Certification in Food Safety Handling and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) preferred
