Are you a proven leader in production and manufacturing? A permanent full-time opportunity has become available in Wacol to lead operations and drive efficiency with a proudly Australian owned and operated steel manufacturer with a strong brand and reputation in local and overseas markets.
For over 45 years, our client has been committed to quality, reliability and innovation. We are looking for an experienced Production Manager with a proactive, people and safety-first attitude. Working alongside an experienced Manufacturing Engineer, you will be involved in the upgrade of procedures, plant and equipment to make the most of advances in technology. Experience in manufacturing steel products and press and die setting highly regarded.
Key result areas:
Manage production, people, plant and stock levels in a way that meets production targets.
Monitor production KPIs and metrics to ensure budget and production targets are met.
Develop and provide accurate and timely reporting to Management on activities and performance.
Proactively contribute to change / growth strategies and programs that reinforce desired values and behaviors, improve culture, climate, morale and enhance performance and productivity.
Maintain and implement maintenance schedules and programs, raw material requirements and systems infrastructure.
Ensure performance management policies, processes and procedures are consistently followed, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
Work with Health & Safety team, ensuring that work is carried out in a safe manner.
Establish strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders including HR Manager to manage and maintain sufficient appropriately skilled staff members.
Communicate issues with the operations team and devise ways of improving production.
Provide coaching, guidance and feedback.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Production or Operations Manager (minimum 5 years).
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Ability to effectively coach and mentor team members with a collaborative approach.
Ability to build trusting and authentic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
High level of organisational skills with the ability to self-manage time and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to think analytically and develop effective strategies.
Experienced in driving cost reduction through a continuous improvement strategy and an understanding of LEAN principles.
Leadership experience delivering safety and cultural change in the industrial or manufacturing sectors.
Trade background advantageous.
