Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The NDIA is seeking to fill an APS6 Organisational Design role within the Workforce Data, Insights and Culture Branch. Reporting to the Organisational Design Assistant Director, you’ll work closely with stakeholders across the Agency to shape workforce structures that support capability, alignment, and strategic outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:
• Analysing current and future workforce needs to recommend appropriate organisational structures
• Providing specialist advice on organisational design, including role evaluations and broadbanding requests
• Conducting assessments to identify areas for improvement and recommend structural changes
• Managing the development and maintenance of core role statements aligned with NDIA job families
• Supporting change management strategies to enable successful implementation of design initiatives

You’re a strategic thinker with a passion for building effective, inclusive workforce models. You bring strong experience in organisational design and workforce planning, and you’re confident interpreting data to inform evidence-based decisions. You value collaboration, inclusion, and the NDIA’s commitment to supporting people with disability.
We’re looking for someone with:
• Expertise in organisational design and classification frameworks
• Experience conducting APS and SES role evaluations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to lead and support change initiatives
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Confident using Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to navigate digital systems and tools in an accessible and inclusive way.
Desirable qualifications include formal training in HR, Business Administration, or Organisational Design, and certifications in project or change management.

While this role is ideally performed from Brisbane - QLD, Sydney - NSW, Melbourne/Geelong - VIC, Deakin - ACT, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
