Our client is a reputable transportation business based in the western suburbs of Melbourne, who are looking for immediate support within their accounting team.

About the role

This position is a 3-month full time contract role working 5 days out of their offices in Tottenham.

Responsibilities:

• Support end-to-end payroll processing (weekly/fortnightly), including leave calculations and superannuation.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and assist with resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journals for accruals, prepayments, and reclasses.
• Assist with month-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Help with BAS preparation, payroll tax, and other compliance requirements.
• Support bank reconciliations and cash flow tracking.
• Liaise with internal teams to clarify coding, approvals, and budget variances.
• Assist with financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis.
• Contribute to process improvements and automation projects.
• Take ownership of ad hoc accounting tasks and internal reporting as required.

About you

• Minimum 3 years’ experience within accounting.
• Qualifications: Degree in Business Administration and/or Accounting.
• Skills: Experience with in-house accounting systems (Translogix ideal), payroll experience, strong Excel and MS Suite skills.
• High level of attention to detail with proven level of quality and accuracy of work.
• Proactive research, analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks in a high volume, fast paced environment.
• True team player.
