About the role
Independence Australia is seeking a dedicated and confident Accounts Officer to join our Finance team and support the financial needs of our customer accounts. You will play a key role in debt management, invoicing, and financial support for a diverse and valued client base.
- Manage day-to-day debt collection activities, including resolving invoice issues and handling complex funding enquiries
- Reconcile accounts, process receipting, and assist with general bookkeeping tasks
- Communicate effectively with customers and funders to resolve financial matters and ensure accurate invoicing
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment within the Finance Department, supporting continuous improvement
About you
- Background in finance, accounts, or administration; formal qualification in accounting or bookkeeping preferred
- Experience in collections or accounts receivable/payable with the ability to chase outstanding debts professionally
- Strong Excel skills and confidence in investigating and resolving account discrepancies
- A confident communicator with a team-oriented approach and willingness to learn
- Empathy and professionalism when dealing with vulnerable clients and sensitive financial matters
