Our Client, an established federal government department located in the Canberra City is seeking to engage an Accommodation Change and Communications Officer to support the Assistant Director Capital Works in the Property Planning & Capital Works (PPCW) section and will be managed by the Enterprise Change Management Office (ECMO).

The ECMO and PPCW are seeking an appropriately skilled and experienced change management specialist to design and deliver change management programmes to support accommodation projects and staff through office accommodation changes. This role is critical to ensuring smooth and successful transitions through regular and positive engagement with stakeholders and staff.

Key position responsibilities

  • Lead the change and communication approach for a major accommodation project and interdependent projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and minimal disruption;
  • Engage closely with stakeholders across project teams, business areas, and executives to build trust, manage expectations and promote readiness;
  • Develop and implement structured change and communication plan, including stakeholder analysis, impact assessments, communications materials and engagement activities;
  • Provide senior staff, change leaders and sponsors with the support to champion and communicate the anticipated changes;
  • Analyse, design and deliver the change management needs of the Group, Branch and Section.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in researching, designing, delivering and supporting change management, communication and transition strategies and activities for accommodation projects throughout their lifecycle, and utilising a range of tools and approaches;
  • Excellent time management skills, with a proven ability to align change management and communication activities to broader project timelines, milestones, and budgetary constraints;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and communication for complex accommodation projects, including planning, development of artefacts, messaging via several varied channels, and supporting accommodation transitions and post project activities;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex change and communication for accommodation projects, including planning, development of artefacts, multi-channel messaging, and supporting both transition and post-implementation activities;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders;
  • Ability to prepare papers, briefs and reports to management, senior executives and other stakeholders relating to change and communication activities as required;
  • Proficient in preparing high quality documentation including papers, briefs, and reports for senior executives and key stakeholders, tailored to change and communication objectives.
